Course overview

If your first language is not English, you can study ESOL courses at college. Our courses will help you to improve your English language skills for doing your schoolwork, as well as offering SQA units at  National 4 and the full exam qualifications at National 5 and Higher. We will assess your level of ESOL to find the right class for you.

The purpose of the National 4 course is to help pupils who are struggling with school work because of their English language level and doing 1 or 2 SQA units is a good way to measure progress. The National 5 and Higher courses, as well as helping with school work, offer the chance to get qualifications that allow you to progress to mainstream college courses or university.  The courses cover a range of topics relevant to life and study in Scotland

Our after-school SCP ESOL courses will be online.  Our online delivery includes face-to-face digital classrooms and independent learning with teacher support.  This will accommodate pupils’ individual needs and allow them to study at their own pace.  The platform for digital delivery will be Microsoft Teams and Moodle. High-quality teaching enhanced with the use of technology will facilitate the development of students’ digital skills.
