Course overview
Introduction to Interior Design is an evening class taught once a week at Edinburgh College’s Granton campus. The course is designed for those interested in; interior design, starting a new hobby or pursuing a new career. You will need little to no experience in interior design as this course will cover the basics.
Interior design is the art of exploring and experimenting with a room or building’s creative potential. As an interior designer, you will design new and modern spaces or renovate old ones to improve functionality. During this course, you will develop your artistic abilities, gain a feel for how to design different spaces and learn a keen eye for light and colour. Classes will include teachings on the importance of structural changes, lighting, fixtures, fittings and furnishings to create the best design outcome.
This course is a stepping stone to further study of interior design or an entry-level job in the industry. Work created on these courses can support a portfolio of work for future course applications to specialist art and design courses, supporting school leavers or a career change.
