Kingston University London give students introduction to their accredited degree programmes
Representatives from Kingston University London visited Edinburgh College's Milton Road Campus earlier this month to welcome Creative Industries students studying on their accredited degree courses, as part of an induction session led by the College's Curriculum Leader Annette Chapman.
Hundreds of students studying across a range of subject areas heard from Kingston University Liaison Officers Geoff Granfield and Lucy Renton about each of their degree programmes, including essential information about the delivery of their course and the process of accreditation, and were able to ask any questions they might have.
Geoff and Lucy then challenged the students to take part in a number of workshops, providing them with an opportunity to network with their peers studying different subjects, and find opportunities for possible collaboration.
The College has worked with Kingston University London for the past eight years, growing that partnership to now offer six different one-year top up BA (Hons) courses in Music, Music Business, Audio Production, Dance and Drama, Visual Communication, and Photography.
As part of the partnership, each course is delivered by the College and validated by Kingston University London, ensuring students studying at the College have the opportunity to gain an honours degree course.
Kingston University Liaison Officer Geoff Granfield commented: "The induction event for Higher Education students at Edinburgh College created a well thought out balance of warm welcome, essential information, inclusive ‘getting to know one another’ activities and good advice.
“There was a very positive cross course dialogue and students clearly appreciated each element of the day; the mix of introductions with participation helped any social anxiety nerves. A great way to start your HE experience!”
Edinburgh College curriculum leader for Creative Industries Annette Chapman said: "I’d like to thank Geoff and Lucy for taking the time to come up and speak to students studying across our BA (Hons) degree programmes. The students really appreciated the opportunity to find out more about the university, and being made to feel part of the Kingston student community.
“In addition, this event provided the perfect opportunity for students to network with their peers from across the all of the Creative Industries degree programmes, and explore areas of possible collaboration on any creative projects they are working on in future.”
