Course overview
If you have an interest in media this course will offer you the opportunity to explore, develop and practise your creative skills on a range of different media projects.
You will gain understanding of different jobs and skills within the creative media industries and different ways of working. You’ll develop ideas in response to project briefs, explore different techniques for storytelling in creative media, learn to capture media, manage a media workflow and edit your work. And you will work with others to produce a range of media products.
Over the course of the year you will:
- Create a website to host your work
- Analyse different types of media product
- Research job roles and skills in the creative industries
- Plan and organise recordings and video shoots
- Work as a member of a team
- Create storyboards, scripts and sound design plans
- Make a podcast
- Make a title sequence
- Make a short documentary
- Make a short drama
This course will suit people who want to develop their own creative practice, or who are interested in working in a range of creative media professions.
On successful completion of the course students may wish to pursue further studies in Creative Industries such as Television and Film, Digital Journalism, Audio Visual Technology, Television with Multi-camera Operation, Sound Production, Visual Communication or Graphic Communication and Design.
The awarding body for the qualification is the internationally recognised and highly regarded University of the Arts London (UAL). On successful completion of the course you will attain a Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology which is equivalent to SCQF Level 6 (Higher).

- All applicants will be invited to interview and should bring examples of creative work and be prepared to talk about film and television and why they are suitable for this course
